Alpinestars has just released the next generation of its Tech 7 Enduro Drystar boots, a ground-up redesign of one of the brand’s most popular waterproof enduro models — timed with a strong season for the brand, whose riders just locked out the podium at the MotoGP Misano round this September.
⭐ What’s New in This Generation
The Tech 7 Enduro Drystar has long promised motocross-level protection combined with true waterproofing for enduro riders — this redesign rebuilds that formula from the ground up, rather than just refreshing the graphics on the previous model.
🛍️ Where It Fits in the Lineup
- Tech 10 — flagship MX boot, maximum protection for motocross racing
- Tech 7 Enduro Drystar — this redesigned model, built specifically for enduro’s mix of technical terrain and wet conditions
- Tech 5 / Tech 3 / Tech-T — progressively lighter, more accessible off-road boots
⚠️ A Note on Past Feedback
Worth mentioning for balance: some owners of the previous-generation Drystar membrane have reported waterproofing issues over time in online forums, with a few describing reduced water resistance compared to Gore-Tex-based alternatives at a similar price. This redesign is specifically aimed at addressing that boot’s weak points, though it’s too new for a large base of long-term owner reviews yet.
✔️ Pros
✔ Ground-up redesign, not just a cosmetic refresh of the previous generation
✔ Purpose-built for enduro’s demanding mix of technical terrain and wet weather
✔ Part of a lineup with genuine motocross racing pedigree behind it
✔ Sits within a full range (Tech 10 down to Tech-T) so you can match protection level to your riding
✔ Free 30-day returns to help with sizing on a new release
✖️ Cons to Consider
✖ Being brand new, there isn’t yet a large body of long-term durability reviews to lean on
✖ Previous-generation Drystar waterproofing drew some owner criticism — worth watching for updated long-term feedback as this new version gets more wear
✖ Enduro-specific boots trade some everyday comfort for the protection and waterproofing the discipline demands
💬 Final Verdict
If your Tech 7 Enduro Drystars are due for replacement, this ground-up redesign is a genuine opportunity to get ahead of the curve on Alpinestars’ latest off-road engineering — just keep an eye on how long-term waterproofing holds up as more riders log hours in them.
