Once your direct drive wheel and pedals feel right, the next upgrade is often the part your right hand touches: a shifter. MOZA Racing makes more than wheels, and its shifters and handbrake are aimed at rally, drift and classic-car fans. Here is what the range offers and what to check before you buy.
🕹️ SGP: the sequential shifter
MOZA describes the SGP as a push-forward/pull-back sequential shifter with an all-metal build, a non-contact Hall sensor, an adjustable damper for shifting resistance, and two backlit mechanical buttons. It adjusts across about 64 mm in height, works in forward or reverse orientation, and the M12 x 1.5 thread takes most aftermarket knobs. It is positioned for rally, drift and touring cars.
🔌 Connecting it, and the one thing to check
On PC the SGP connects directly over USB. To use it with a console, or without taking a USB port, it connects by RJ11 to a compatible MOZA wheelbase, and MOZA’s page does not list which bases qualify, so check the compatibility chart on MOZA’s support site for your exact base. Button functions and RGB colours are set in Pit House, and buttons can be mapped to things like DRS or the pit limiter. For a desktop setup, MOZA says you need the separate Universal Mounting Plate.
🚗 HGP: the H-pattern shifter
For classic road cars, MOZA offers the HGP, a 7+R H-pattern shifter with a patented downshift throttle-blip system, which MOZA recommends for traditional H-pattern shifting. One forum commenter noted that the SGP base appears to have a single shifter port, so if you want both an H-pattern and a sequential shifter on one rig, check how they would connect before buying.
🛑 Handbrake
MOZA also lists an HBP handbrake in the same range (I could not find detailed specs on the support page I checked, so see the product page for travel, sensor type and mounting).
✔️ Pros
- Shifters for both styles: sequential (SGP) and H-pattern (HGP), plus a handbrake in the same ecosystem
- Metal build, Hall sensor and adjustable damper on the SGP
- Buttons and lighting configurable in Pit House
- Works with the MOZA wheel and pedal ecosystem you may already own
✖️ Cons
- Desktop mounting needs a separate plate
- Console or RJ11 use depends on a compatible MOZA wheelbase, so verify before buying
- Port limits may affect using two shifters together
- Adds cost on top of wheel and pedals
💬 Final Verdict
If you love rally, drift or classic H-pattern driving, a MOZA shifter or handbrake is a natural next step. Check your wheelbase and platform compatibility, and your mounting plan, before you add one.
