Baby carriers can cost a lot, and parents often want to know whether a cheaper one is good enough. Momcozy’s homepage lists several carriers, including the Move2Fit hip seat, the SnapLite wrap and the WeeSnug newborn carrier, and a PureHug ergonomic carrier. I used Babylist’s product page and a BabyGearLab test of the Momcozy soft structured carrier to put together a balanced view. Note that BabyGearLab tested a Momcozy carrier model, so check the current PureHug listing for your version.
👶 What it is
Per Babylist, the PureHug is designed for front carry facing inwards, usable from birth, for children from 7 to 44 lbs. It has three adjustable sizing positions, an adjustable seat width, padded shoulder and waist straps, padded leg openings, EVA waist lumbar support, pockets, and a waist belt from 27″ to 53″.
🧪 What a tester found (BabyGearLab)
BabyGearLab scored the Momcozy carrier it tested at 61/100, ranking it #9 of 12, and called it a practical, no-frills, budget-friendly soft structured carrier made of 100% cotton. Lightly padded shoulder straps and a padded waistband helped spread the weight, though it is less cushioned than pricier options. The crisscross back straps were tricky to put on at first, and the fabric felt stiff out of the box and softened after a few washes. The “3-in-1” label refers to three sizing settings, not three carry styles.
🧷 Other Momcozy carriers
If you want something different, Momcozy’s page also lists the Move2Fit 2-in-1 ergonomic hip seat carrier, the SnapLite wrap carrier for newborns, and the WeeSnug newborn carrier (listed for 0 to 3 months). I could not find independent test details for these, so check the product pages for weight ranges and positions.
🛡️ Carrying safely
Follow the manufacturer’s age, weight and position instructions, and check what safety standards apply where you live. As general guidance for any carrier, keep your baby’s face visible and uncovered, keep the airway clear with the chin off the chest, hold them close and high enough to kiss, and support their back. Practise with a helper and stop using it if anything feels unsafe.
✔️ Pros
- Budget-friendly, lightweight and simple, per BabyGearLab
- Usable from birth up to 44 lbs, with adjustable seat width and sizing
- Padded straps and waistband with lumbar support (Babylist)
- Machine washable
- Several styles in the range: structured carrier, hip seat, wrap and newborn carrier
✖️ Cons
- Front-inward carry only for the carrier tested, so limited versatility
- Back straps can be tricky at first, and the fabric is stiff until washed
- Less cushioned than pricier carriers, and some reviewers mention scratchy fabric or fiddly straps
- Ranked mid-table in BabyGearLab’s tests (61/100, #9 of 12)
💬 Final Verdict
If you want a simple, affordable carrier for everyday outings and you mainly carry facing in, a Momcozy carrier is worth a look. If you want more carry positions or the plushest padding, compare it with higher-priced options. Always try it on with your baby and follow the instructions.
